City Center Bishop Ranch Invites the Community to Celebrate the Holidays with Fun – and Safe – Family Experiences and Promotions

Oct 20, 2020
Press Release

San Ramon, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2020) – Celebrating the spirt of the season while acknowledging the reality of the times, City Center Bishop Ranch today announced a series of fun family holiday experiences and promotions that promise to bring good cheer to the community while ensuring everyone’s safety.

From a Halloween virtual costume contest for little ghouls and goblins, to enchanting Lighted Tree Forests, to an Indian Diwali celebration, the center will beckon guests of all ages as a holiday wonderland from late October through the end of the year. All events and in-store promotions have been designed to instill holiday spirit while providing assurances to guests that all necessary health safety precautions have been taken.

For children, a highlight of the experiences at the center will be the opportunity to chat with Santa during several live-streaming appearances in December from his home at the North Pole. The chats – which will follow social-distancing guidelines – will take place in Alexander Square. Children also will be invited to send letters to Santa via a special North Pole mailbox located in the square.

“While the pandemic has influenced the type and scale of the experiences we can offer the community this year, it hasn’t changed our commitment and excitement to welcome everyone here for a healthy serving of holiday cheer and goodwill,” said Alex Mehran Jr., president and chief executive officer of Sunset Development Company, owner and operator of City Center Bishop Ranch.

Mehran said City Center Bishop Ranch is the perfect place during the holidays for friends and families to enjoy a delicious meal on newly designed heated and expanded outdoor patios, shop and then enjoy roaming carolers while sipping mulled cider and hot chocolate in the meticulously cleaned and spacious Alexander Square.

And in keeping with tradition, in November guests will have the opportunity to make donations of non-perishable food to benefit the local charity Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. During December, guests will be invited to donate gently used sweaters and coats to One Warm Coat.

The following experiences and promotions are planned:

Halloween Virtual Costume Contest, Oct. 29th – 31st
Guests are invited to take photos of their little ghouls and goblins decked out in their Halloween costumes at the center against a festive selfie wall and then tag @CityCenterBishopRanch and use the hashtag #CityCenterBishopRanch. Gift giveaway categories will include Pets, Kids Under 12, Scariest, and Most Creative. Winners will be announced on Halloween on Instagram and Facebook and receive gift cards to various City Center stores, including Pottery Barn Kids and George.

Diwali Celebration, Nov. 12th – 14th
Observed this year on Nov. 14, Diwali is India’s largest and most important annual holiday – and thousands of San Ramon residents celebrate it. It symbolizes the “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.” City Center will observe Diwali with a Rangoli art experience and Diwali/Indian-themed music, among other festivities.

The 12 Days of Giveaways, Dec. 12th to 24th
This year, City Center wants to celebrate its loyal customers and followers by gifting unique, hand selected items to 12 lucky winners. Each day of the 12 days of this promotion, the center will post a photo in its Instagram and Facebook stories of Santa hiding a special gift bag in one of the center’s stores. The hidden gift – by a City Center retailer or restaurant– will be given to the person who is first to find the gift bag. The center will post an image of the daily donated item and congratulate the winner.
If you aren’t one of the lucky winners, you can find all selected items for purchase at City Center Bishop Ranch.

Holiday Shopping and Cider Stroll, Nov. 27th (Black Friday) and Dec. 18th
Celebrate the holiday season at City Center Bishop Ranch as the lifestyle center lights up with festive community activities and sparkling decorations. Guests will be welcomed to the center by a snow queen and king on socially distanced stilts. Strolling carolers will fill the center with the holiday music and cheer, as guest sip cider while shopping.

Virtual Visits with Santa, Dec. 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th
Children will be able to safely visit with the Santa via live streaming on a large screen located in Alexander Square. The square will be festively decorated; children will be able to socially distance gather, chat with Santa live and drop letters to him in a special North Pole mailbox.

Lighted Tree Forests and Other Holiday Decor, Nov. 26th thru Jan. 2nd
The center will deck the halls with a variety of spectacular décor and experiences designed to create special holiday memories. A total of 11 Christmas Trees (ranging from 8’ to 12’ high) arranged in 3 Christmas Tree “Forests” will be placed throughout City Center. All three forests will be a different holiday theme and the perfect backdrop for your holiday photos.

City Center Bishop Ranch, designed by the acclaimed Renzo Piano Building Workshop, is a reinvention of the suburban shopping center model in which community, culture and commerce converge. Located in the heart of Bishop Ranch, City Center features 300,000 square feet of visionary downtown retail, dining and entertainment experiences, and will be anchored by THE LOT, a 10-screen luxury cinema, and Equinox, a luxury whole-body personal fitness, training and yoga center. The center is scheduled to open in fall 2018.

City Center Bishop Ranch is owned and operated by Sunset Development Company.
