San Ramon Social Justice Collective Breathing Free Together Community Art Banner Project

Aug 1–15, 2021
10:00am–9:00pm

The San Ramon Social Justice Collective’s moving ‘Breathing Free Together’ Community Art Project is on display in Alexander Square.

Spearheaded by the San Ramon Social Justice Collective, the works of art will be available to view from August 1st through August 15th. An Artist Reception and formal unveiling will take place at City Center Bishop Ranch on August 7th at 11:00 a.m., and will be open to the public.

The mission of the San Ramon Social Justice Collective is to provide a platform for grassroots communities in the San Ramon Valley to engage in education, dialogue and action on social justice issues through the arts.

The theme ‘Breathing Free Together’ was inspired by Black centered political and social movements, which emphasize that antiracism relies on the liberation of Black people, people of color and oppressed communities – from individual, interpersonal, institutional to structural racism.

All of the chosen works of art were submitted by the San Ramon Valley community and invite us to come together in unity to embrace racial equity and harmony, and to bring healing and justice to our community.
